Peter Rabbit Baby Shower

I've been off the radar for a while, like a month. Yikes! You see I've been putting the vast majority of my creative energy in planning and putting the finishing touches on the most spectacular baby shower for an amazing mama-to-be, my little sista.

Side note - see that corsage, those are itty bitty baby socks rolled up for the flowers! The little bump's daddy has some creative sisters.

This shower has been in the works since, well, Easter when we first decided on a theme - Peter Rabbit. And found these invitations. Then the pinterest board was created and the ideas started flying. I love how all of the details came together to create a stunning event.

We were blessed with beautiful weather last Saturday - good thing, the shower was outside.

See that bunting hanging in the trees. I thrift some old sheets and my mother and I spent an entire afternoon sewing 225 feet of it. She ironed every single triangle - crazy I know. We also placed her in charge of chairs. Rather than getting the metal folding ones her and my aunt managed to wrangle dinning room chairs and benches for all of our guests.

I'm in love with the details of drink station - with it's labled pitchers and mason jar cups. Let's not forget the paper straws! Mama lovers her Arnold Palmers, half iced tea half lemonade. So naturally we had both available. Oh and for us non-expecting ladies strawberry basil infused vodka.

A light lunch of chicken salad and cucumber sandwiches along with a few salads and fresh fruits and veggies was served.

Of course there was a plethora of deserts. There isn't a thing as too many desert options.

It was a beautiful afternoon to celebrate a beautiful lady and her soon to be bundle of joy. I feel blessed to have been a part of it.

Sewing for Me

Over the past few years I've made quite a few quilts. For new babies, for newly weds, and for family. I have never made a quilt specifically for me. In fact none of the quilts I have made live with us.

I decided that needed to change.
I'm in the process of making a quilt just for me.

The block design is simple. The hand quilting is going to be the most detailed I have every attempted. It will take many nights snuggled in on the couch watching movies with my boys until this is done.
I cannot wait to show you the finished product!

Christmas Geese

We had two very special visitors over the Christmas holiday.
I would like you to meat Larry and Eugenia

Oh yes my mother did!
She bought me the supper tacky plastic geese that you dress up for the seasons. I LOVE them. Don't worry she bought them both sweaters to wear after Christmas.

Mr. B says it's official I am now the crazy bird lady.

Snot Monster

Last Monday I came down with a cold of epic proportions. I spent all of last week feeling miserable. I went though two boxes of tissue. I was a snot monster. It was gross. I felt gross. I probably looked gross, with my raw nose and tissue
permanently in hand.

Then Mr. B left for the weekend. Traditional male bonding, let's go shoot things and put meat on the table kind of bonding. It was the opening weekend of the gun deer season here in Wisconsin. So he left. Gus and I got some much needed snuggle time in. I got to watch chick flicks and eat popcorn and ice cream for dinner. Apart from being sick it was great.

I watched on of my favorite movies of all time. A supper cheesy take on a classic romantic drama, made in to a musical... Bollywood style.

OMG!! I Must Have

I was perusing the Internet the other day and came across this. Don't ask me how I'm not really sure. I think I was searching Etsy for some goose art. I'm always on the hunt for some classy ways to let the crazy-goose-loving side of me show through.

MUST HAVE!
My life will not be complete until I own this t-shirt.

The Red Swingline

I work in a warehouse office. Food distribution. I am the clerk, or as I like to refer to my position:
The Assistant Deputy Director of Warehouse Operations and Logistics. Much nice ring to it.

As the Assistant Deputy Director of Warehouse Operations and Logistics, I staple. ALOT. Like hundreds of staples every day. As in I will probably have a messed up wrist in a few years if I continue hammering on my stapler at this rate. So last year for Christmas my boss got me this.

If you don't get the reference to this movie, we might seriously need to reconsider our friendship.

Spice Rack

This lovely hangs in my kitchen, under the cupboards.

The roosters make me smile.

I don't use it, I have to many different spices than custy labeled jars. And besides, it is on the opposite side than the stove. Who wants to walk across the room every time you think your jambalaya could use an extra kick of chili powder.

We will leave it hanging as a tribute to the style of the previous owner. That and if we took it down I don't know how we would patch the holes in the tile.

Pink Shoes

I am beginning to notice a trend in the colors of my wardrobe. Pink is starting to dominate, well next to black and grey. These are the latest in my collection.

HOT PINK SNEAKERS

I think I have been overcompensating working in an all male environment. You see I run the office at a warehouse and all the other employees at my building are guys. I need to express my femininity somehow and these babies are just the icing on the cake. (pink cake with sprinkles)

Mr. Owl

This fellow hangs above the stairway.

Every time I go down the stairs he makes me smile. I have a soft spot for cutsie owls.

The Orange Chair

My mother-in-law bought this chair before Mr. B was born. It survived their two moves, three dogs, a cat, and three children. It is faded and worn and the cushion needs a patch job. It still smells slightly of their house, a mixture of woodsmoke and generic fabric softener with a hint of dog. I love this chair. It is squishy, but not to squishy. It's large enough to fit me comfortably, but small enough were I feel wrapped in its warmth. It is the perfect chair for quilting.

When Gus would stay at his Gammie's and Grandpa's he would curl up in that chair and watch people walk down the street. Like me he fit perfectly in the chair. And as an added bonus the arm rest is the perfect height for a pillow.

Back when my in-laws were moving into their new house my mother-in-law asked me if I would like it, one less piece of furniture to move. Like it, we (Gus and I) would LOVE it!

Since it has moved to our house it has been claimed by Gus. I hardly ever get to sit in it. He takes his prenap nap in it, his nap, and his post-nap nap in it. He even sleeps in it at night. Which is wonder as he is a notorious bed hog.

While many may think of it as a hideous chair, it has a permanent home here. Gus loves it and I love it.
